Nanette (Nan) Burns – Kindergarten Teacher I grew up in Sumter, SC where I met my husband, Chris Burns. We are both graduates from Thomas Sumter Academy in Dalzell, SC and have been married for 33 years. Chris is a Clemson graduate, where he majored in Forestry. He worked as a Procurement forester for 26 years and now he is an Insurance Agent for SC Farm Bureau Insurance Company. We moved to Walterboro, SC when we were first married and then on to North Augusta in 1994. We have a daughter, Kayla, who is a Clemson graduate and lives and works in Greenville, SC. Our son Jacob is a Junior at Clemson University, majoring in Chemical Engineering. We are active members at First Baptist Church in North Augusta. My husband is a deacon in the church. We have both taught in the Youth Sunday School department and now Chris is teaching the English as a Second Language Sunday school class. I served on the building committee for the Children's Learning Center and am now serving as secretary for the First Baptist Church Children's Weekday Program committee. I serve on the North Augusta Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee and I am a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Teacher Sorority. I have 33 years of early childhood teaching experience in South Carolina. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education from Winthrop College and a Masters of Education in Reading from The Citadel. I am certified in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, and Reading. I had the privilege of being the 2013 North Augusta Elementary Teacher of the Year. I am delighted to be a part of Mead Hall School faculty where I can continue to challenge and shape young minds in their academic success and spiritual growth!
